Saturday drop off events are held at the DPW Recycling Center at 72 Tremont Street from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. The items collected at all DPW events (except Swap Day) include: plastic bags, screens (TVs, monitors &  laptops: $20), metal goods ($25), tires ($2-$8), office electronics, CFL bulbs, books, clothes, mercury items, and dried latex paint. Recycling Center stickers and recycling label stickers will also be available.

Note: the Hazardous Waste Day held in Stoneham on June 30 is from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.


Household Hazardous Waste

As noted above, the City’s annual Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Collection Event will be held at the Recycling Center on Nov. 10, 2018. Melrose residents can also bring hazardous waste items to Stoneham’s HHW collection event on June 30, 2018. Details can be found on the Household Hazardous Waste page of the city website.

In addition to the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection events on June 30 and Nov. 10, Melrose residents are welcome to attend HHW collection events throughout the year in 7 other nearby communities. Dates of these collections are: March 24, April 14, May 12, June 16, June 23, July 14, Aug. 11, Sept. 16, Sept. 22, Oct. 13, Oct. 20, Nov. 3.

Access to non-residents is often restricted to certain hours and may require advance registration, so it is advised that residents review this document closely and contact the host community prior to attending an out-of-town event.
