Yard Waste Drop Off

Seasonal Saturdays (April  – December): 8:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Leaves, grass clippings, and brush up to one inch (1”) in diameter (bundled and tied) may be dropped off at the Recycling Center on Tremont Street. No dirt allowed. In order to drop off yard waste at the Recycling Center, you must have a Recycling Center sticker. To obtain a sticker, bring your car registration to the Resident Service Office at the Public Works Operations Facility. This sticker is free of charge.

Fall Dates for Curbside Pick up of Yard Waste – Pick up is on your regular trash day.

September Events

September is a busy month.

Visit us at our booth at the Victorian Fair – Sunday, September 8th 11am – 4pm. The Chamber is dedicating this year’s Fair to John Doherty.  John was the Division Foreman, Parks and Forestry Division and made significant contributions to the City of Melrose. It is a wonderful way to honor John.

Saturday, September 21st  – 8am to noon – at the City Yard – 72 Tremont Street Motor Oil/Gas/Antifreeze drop-off – Two gallons/household Free (excess=$2/gallon, checks only). Containers will not be returned. As with each Saturday event, DPW will be accepting: TV’s, monitors & laptops (all $20), metal goods ($25), tires ($2-8), Mercury items, CFL bulbs, clothes, books & dried latex paint.

Saturday, September 28th – 8am to noon – in the City Hall parking lot – MELROSE SWAP DAY – sponsored by the Zero Waste Melrose. No need to drop off to take something! No charge to drop off or take!! Items accepted (until 11am): textiles, shoes, books, CDs, DVDs, sports equipment, office supplies, home decor, working small electronics – hair dryers, lamps, blenders. Items not accepted – large appliances/electronics (e.g. computers or TV’s) or upholstered furniture. Items must be clean, dry and lightly used.
