Holiday Schedule

Curbside Collection

The Public Works Department reminds residents that there will be no curbside collection on Monday, April 15, 2019 due to the Patriot’s Day holiday. Curbside collection of recycling and trash will be on holiday schedule with a one day delay starting Tuesday, April 16th.

Kindly be reminded that Monday’s trash and recycling routes will be picked up Tuesday, April 16th; Tuesday trash and recycling routes will be picked up on Wednesday, April 17th; Wednesday’s trash and recycling will be picked up on Thursday, April 18th; Thursday’s trash and recycling will be picked up Friday April 19th; and Friday’s trash and recycling routes will be picked up on Saturday, April 20th.

City Yard

The Tremont Street Recycling Drop Off Facility will be open Saturday, April 13th for recycling and yard waste drop off – 8 am – 3 pm.

The Tremont Street City Yard and Recycling Center will be closed on Monday, April 15, 2019 in observance of the Patriot’s Day holiday.

The City Yard and Resident Service office will be open regular hours Tuesday, April 16, Wednesday, April 17th and Thursday, April 18th regular hours – 7:30 am to 3 pm.

The Tremont Street Recycling Center will be closing at noon on Friday, April 19th in observance of Good Friday. All DPW offices will be closed all day Friday, April 19th.

The Tremont Street Recycling Center will be open regular hours on Saturday, April 20th – 8 am to 3 pm.

MOTOR OIL/GAS/ANTIFREEZE COLLECTION

Public Works Recycle Center – 72 Tremont Street

Saturday, April 20th 8am – Noon

Motor Oil/Gas/Antifreeze: 2 gallons/household FREE (additional = $2 per gallon) Checks only

As with each Saturday event, DPW will also be accepting:

TV’s, monitors & laptops (all $20), metal goods ($25), tires ($2-8), Mercury items.

CFL bulbs, clothes, books & dried latex paint (all free). 

No fire extinguishers. No hazardous material.

Recycling stickers and education information will also be available.

Spring Street Sweeping Program

SPRING SWEEPING PROGRAM

UPDATED ON MONDAY, APRIL 1, 2019

 The City of Melrose Public Works Department will begin the Spring Street Sweeping Program on Monday, April 8, 2019.  Each Ward and Precinct will be swept in the order reflected in the schedule below. Daily sweeping will begin 5:00 a.m. in this program. The schedule is subject to weather and will be updated accordingly.

Please make every effort to have vehicles removed from the roadway on scheduled days to ensure proper sweeping of your street. The schedule will be updated as needed in order to adjust for weather challenges.
