Storm Update: March 20, 2018

Mayor Infurna's Blog

While there is still considerable uncertainty about the snowstorm forecast for tomorrow, we are fairly confident that the snow will begin in the late morning/early afternoon, so the greatest impact will be on the evening commute. The total amount of snow may be as little as 5 inches or more than 12 inches.

With that in mind, here is some information about what to expect on Wednesday:

  • The Traffic Commission meeting has been rescheduled to Wednesday, March 28, at 5:30 p.m.
  • The library will close at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
  • The Veterans Food Bank scheduled at Memorial Hall for Wednesday, March 21, is cancelled due to the Greater Boston Food Bank being closed. The March pickup will not be rescheduled; the next one will be April 18, 2018

Evening Storm Update: March 14, 2018

Mayor Infurna's Blog

Good evening,

DPW has shut down operations for the evening, but they will be back tomorrow. Our priority will be to continue clearing corners, starting with areas around schools and areas with high pedestrian traffic.

Tomorrow night we will remove snow from parking lots and sidewalks in business areas, including parts of Main Street, West Wyoming Avenue, West Emerson Street, and Franklin Street.

Please encourage school children to use the sidewalk routes that have been plowed.

All evening activities in the schools are on schedule.

The Melrose Public Library is open today.

School will be open on Thursday and school grounds have been cleared.

Please continue to use care when driving, as visibility around corners is limited.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we continue to work.

Spring is around the corner!
