Paper Shredding & Mattress Recycling on Sat. Sept. 16

Our next Recycling Event will be Saturday, Sept. 16 from 8 a.m. to noon at 72 Tremont Street. This event will feature paper shredding (one file-box free, each additional box $5 – checks only) and an opportunity for Melrose residents to bring their old mattresses and box springs to be recycled (FREE, limit of 4 mattresses or box springs per household).

The mattresses and box springs collected at the event will be picked up and recycled by the Lowell-based United Teen Equality Center (UTEC), an organization that provides jobs and GED preparation classes for proven-risk youth. UTEC’s mission is to ignite and nurture the ambition of disconnected young people to trade violence and poverty for social and economic success.
