MVMMS Green Week!

Green Week

“The Melrose Veterans Memorial Middle School Green Team is sponsoring a MVMMS “Green Week” during the week of January 22-25, 2013. The Lunch Time Heroes, a subgroup of the MVMMS Green Team, has announced that each homeroom representative will keep a tally of how many reusable water bottles are brought in to school during the week. After this data has been analyzed, points will be awarded to each team toward the Sixth Grade Guidance Trophy, the seventh grade Assistant Principal’s Trophy, and the eighth grade Principal’s Trophy. During the MVMMS Green Week, the Unnamed Team, another subgroup of the Green Team, will challenge the students to waste less at lunch by counting and/or by weighing the total number of trash bags each grade used and then at the end of the week awarding the grade with the fewest number with a prize or acknowledgment. All of the information, planning and results of the MVMMS Green Week will be submitted to the Seimen’s “We Can Change The World Contest” by the March 6, 2013 deadline. Help the Green Team make our school greener! For more information, contact Mrs. Apostolos at japostolos@melrose.mec.edu.”

– Mr. Brow, MVMMS Principal

So the MVMMS students are going green…what will YOU do? How about taking their advice and using a reusing drink bottle or reducing your food waste? If they can do it, so can you!
